A Return After Two Decades: Our Lab Visits Partner Laboratory in Brazil

More than twenty years after completing a research internship there as a young researcher, the director of our lab returned to the laboratory that helped shape part of his scientific career. This time, however, he was accompanied by students from ACOUSPHEM.

The visit took place at the Acoustics, Ultrasound, and Vibration Division (DiAVI) and the Metrology in Fluid Dynamics Division (DINCI) of the National Institute of Metrology, Quality, and Technology (INMETRO), located in Xerém, Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

During the visit, our team toured the Laboratory of Acoustic Testing (LAENA), the Electroacoustics Laboratory (LAETA), the Ultrasound Laboratory (LABUS), and the Liquid Flow Laboratory (LALIQ). The group also exchanged ideas with researchers, learned about ongoing experimental developments, and discussed future avenues for collaboration.

For the director of our laboratory, the visit carried special significance. “Coming back after more than two decades, now together with members of our lab, was both professionally and personally meaningful. Many of the experiences and scientific discussions I had here during my internship played an important role in shaping my scientific career,” he noted.

The activities provided valuable exposure to different research methodologies and strengthened the international perspective of our group. The visit also helped reinforce long-standing academic ties between Chile and Brazil while opening discussions on future student exchanges and collaborative research initiatives.

We thank our colleagues at DiAVI and DINCI for their warm welcome, generosity, and continued scientific partnership.
