Prof. Claude Boutin Visited ACOUSPHEM to Advance Research on Poroelastic Metamaterials

Prof. Claude Boutin (ENTPE & Université de Lyon, France) visited the ACOUSPHEM Laboratory at the Institue of Acoustics, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) in Valdivia as part of the FONDECYT Regular Project No. 1250496.

Prof. Boutin’s third visit to our laboratory provided an opportunity to further advance the theoretical foundations of wave propagation in poroelastic metamaterials while fostering scientific exchange with undergraduate and graduate students. Throughout his stay, he participated in research discussions, shared his expertise in multiscale modeling and homogenization, and contributed to ongoing research in acoustics, mechanics, and metamaterials.

The collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at UACh and ENTPE & Université de Lyon has established a strong framework for international scientific cooperation. By combining complementary expertise in acoustics, multiscale mechanics, and mathematical modeling, both institutions continue to advance the understanding of wave propagation in complex materials and explore new directions for future research.

We are honoured and grateful to Prof. C. Boutin for his visit and continued collaboration, and look foward to welcoming him once again to ACOUSPHEM.
